i hate my life, but fic is good

My insomnia is back. I have just spent THREE HOURS trying to fall asleep. I am tired enough to sleep all day.

And can I sleep? NO.

ARGH.

------------------------------------

In more pleasant news, I finally knocked down my weird, self-imposed block on reading Paracelsus's post-Hogwarts story, Restitution, and I am so happy -- I left off at chapter 5 and he's now up to chapter 10! Beyond the wonderful character interaction, brilliantly developed New Zealand magical community and traditions, and marvelous little asides that make the wizarding world feel realistic, it has developed a murder-mystery plot, and I need to know what happens next!

Which is annoying, since I don't even like mystery stories, usually. He suckered me in with the character stuff and the two preceding stories.

Go read it; it's really great. Amazing Harry characterization, best Trio interaction I've seen in a long time, and a lot of close attention to how a magical world would actually work.

You can start with And Miles To Go Before I Sleep, which is the first one he wrote, or I Have a Rendezvous With Death, which is the first chronologically. Either one will, unfortunately, spoil bits of the other, but they're so well-written it doesn't matter.

(Um. He can be a bit unsubtle with some of the character observations and foreshadowing at points, but I really find it hard to complain considering how great the stories are.)
