Greetings from New Jersey!

I drove down from Ithaca this afternoon in order to kidnap my parents' dog, mwahahahaha!!!

Or, in less dramatic terms, to pick up Dottie so she won't have to spend the next two-plus weeks in a kennel while Mom and Dad are off gallivanting around Norway. (Dad is giving a paper at the 11th International Conference on the History of Chemistry in Trondheim -- his conference papers are often their nominal excuse for trips to interesting places -- but they will spend most of their time on general tourism stuff.)

We went out to dinner at Charlie Brown's, I have washed a bunch of laundry, and tomorrow I will head back north through A) rain, B) far too much roadwork, and C) god only knows how many families flooding into Ithaca to drop their kids off at Cornell for the start of classes on Monday the 21st.

And then I will have a temporary dog. Yay dog! :D

I have eleven remaining ~30-minute lectures from the Barbarian Empires of the Steppes course, which is five and a half hours. Madison to Ithaca (uh, that's Madison NJ, not Madison WI) is usually ~4 hours, so even allowing for horrendous traffic delays, I should be fine. :)

I will need to acquire a new set of lecture CDs for when I return the dog in September, though...

TAZ! Take up The Adventure Zone!

I have actually taken up TAZ (I'm at the beginning of the Suffering Game arc), but instead of listening I've been reading the transcripts because at the moment long car drives are about the only situation I have where I CAN listen to audio stuff without my attention wandering off, and I don't make long road trips regularly.

I mean, I could maybe take up crochet and/or knitting, but that seems like an excessively large lifestyle investment just so I could listen to podcasts regularly. *wry*

HEH! I read the first clause and I was going to say "That's why I knit -- actually it's Tunisian crochet today -- during episodes."

Also Stardew Valley works. But I so cannot listen to things without a distraction; otherwise I provide my own distraction. I used to embroider during conference calls.
