I honestly am not sure. It's been 15ish years since I watched it, and the main thing I remember is being so upset that here was yet again another movie/miniseries that slaughtered a book that I loved. Oh, I do remember being perturbed that they randomly changed the mother's name for no explainable reason, and I had been hopeful at Meg and Calvin because the actors had played characters in other things that I enjoyed, so I had initially liked their casting for the roles.
