I've just been listening to Herodotus explain the flooding of the Nile and how it's the same length as the Danube, and he is SO incredibly (but endearingly!) wrong.
On the other hand, I am impressed that he went in person all the way to Elephantine while gathering information. I also enjoy how carefully he frames one story about the source of the Nile, saying that he only heard it from one person who he suspects was having him on, and has been unable to get anyone else to confirm it... but IF it's true, then here's his best guess at a logical explanation for a seemingly nonsensical part of the tale.
