3 unrelated things: gifts & cards, sketches, and fairy-tales
1) I am slowly working through holiday cards and presents. I've sent nearly all of my cards (one I can't send until I track down an address, and the other is waiting on somebody's surname), bought a bunch of presents, arranged for some others, and already sent one of the presents.
2) Yesterday, I found a small sketchpad I bought six years ago, which I never used much. It has a few portraits, one rather peculiar castle, and one stained-glass window design, from 2001 and 2004. As you can tell, I am prone to forgetting that this sketchpad exists; even when I drew regularly, my artwork was mostly margin drawings in class notebooks. Anyway, I don't sketch very often anymore, not even the geometric doodles I played around with all the time in high school and college, but I thought I might try drawing something for old times' sake.
So far, I have a head-and-shoulders portrait of Yukiko in civilian clothes. I think tonight I'll try drawing Naga. :-)
3) Do not write fairy-tales. They're harder than they look, and they have a nasty habit of taking on resonances with your own life and pointing out things you're doing wrong.
