I not really familiar with the fandom at all, but this story is great.

The fact that the ghost was Cloud's mother was so sad and that she left without saying a final goodbye... I read in one of the comments that he doesn't remember his mother's face and that she basically took away the one chance that he could see her again? Poor Cloud...
