tiny family daytrip visit thing :-)
My parents are making a brief visit Wednesday and Thursday, mostly so we will have a chance to see each other before the Labor Day weekend in Minnesota. Their summers are otherwise very full, and the only time I might get down to NJ (Susan's birthday) probably overlaps with a time they will be out of the state, so.
It is also kind of nominally a Mother's Day visit, but only very, very nominally. I still bought a gift, but it's the kind of useful household object that is aimed at them as a couple, so it's serving as a very preemptive Father's Day gift as well. (My dad is not hard to shop for, per se -- actually he's easier than my mom in some ways, since I know his taste in nonfiction more exactly -- but while a bunch of typical "mom" gifts work fine for my mom, typical "dad" gifts are much less likely to match my actual father's actual interests.)
But anyway! The plan is for them to arrive around 4pm Wednesday, dinner, breakfast, some kind of activity, lunch, and depart by 3pm Thursday so as to return to NJ in time for a church finance committee meeting that got unexpectedly rescheduled after we'd already planned this visit. *sigh* Their dog will spend the night in my apartment, and hopefully at some point we will install my air conditioner for the summer.
