There is no wrong way to write a remix, so far as I've been able to tell. (Well, aside from being a jerk.)

My other analogy is that a fic and its remix are the weights on opposite sides of a scale, and I want to get them as close to level with each other as possible. But I think the fresco one works better. :-)
