I can see some use in correcting blatant errors of fact, though even that can be a highly fraught area. Once you hit the realm of character interpretation, it's generally better to just back-button away.
And given how idiosyncratic nicknames can be, I see no reason for anyone to be sure what a character's full name is if we're only canonically given a nickname. I mean, my great-aunt was known as "Duke" to almost everyone except her husband. Her given name? Lolita. Good luck finding a connection there...
