Heh. My highest kudo-to-word count is about 5% ("Epithets").

It's interesting to speculate about why certain stories have high or low hit counts. I suspect the greatest single factor is the author's reputation and following. The fandom is a factor, and so are the warnings and tags. One of my higher hit counts is for "A Horse and His Conscience," which I suspect is due to the rape/non-con warning and some of the tags; but it has a relatively low kudo/hit ratio, probably because some of the people who read it are expecting porn and are disappointed. But I haven't been around long and am posting mostly in minor fandoms, so I think most of my readers stumble upon me semi-accidentally anyway. Every once in a while I'll get a whole bunch of kudos from someone who has found one of my stories and apprlarently liked it and went looking for more, which is a nice feeling!
