Pairing is also a HUGE factor. And really, just shipping in general. Romance and porn sell. Genfic, not so much... though occasionally you can get lucky and hit a combination of fandom's other collective id buttons that overcomes the lack of sex. *wry*

I've been kicking around fandom for thirteen years now, but I don't think I will ever be "known" beyond a few specific corners because A) I am erratic both in writing pace and fandom focus, and B) I don't write a lot of shipfic, and when I do, it doesn't tend to be particularly romantic and/or explicit.
