Naruto is interesting for me to write, since he has, in many ways, a very limited understanding of motivations -- that is, he can see where people are coming from, but because he wouldn't ever make certain choices, he can't quite grasp why they would. And yet he does understand people, has a lot of compassion, and sincerely believes people can be good and change for the better.

He's a lot more of an idealist than I am.
