like I said, my plans do not survive contact with reality

Somehow "I will finish ch. 14 of 'Secrets'" turned into "I will read an issue of Smithsonian magazine with articles on lions and German sausage."

So yeah. *sigh* I did get a couple hundred words written, though. Every little bit helps.

On a completely unrelated topic, how stupid is it that Daylight Savings Time is starting before spring equinox this year? Stupidest thing ever or stupidest thing ever?

Stupidest thing ever or stupidest thing ever?

Second stupidest. The STUPIDEST is putting us through DST every year... the energy savings are negligible, and it creates more problems then it solves.

I think the whole exercise is a crock. Of course, I'm usually happier in the fall when I gain an hour of sleep - spring is reserved for utter hatred.

It gets worse -- there's no energy whatsoever being saved, and even if there was a too-small-to-measure amount saved, more energy is spent on such things as changing clocks, adjusting to the new time, keeping (or trying to keep) alive people injured in accidents which wouldn't have happened without the time change...

About the only thing I find it good for is making it easier to calculate the time difference between where I (sometimes) live & Japan, which -- despite high energy prices -- did not enact DST.
