My relatives are screwy. And I'm not even talking about my Libertarian uncle, who breeds cats, is trying to start a bed and breakfast, flies lightweight airplanes, and only got married for the tax breaks. No, I'm talking about my mom's other brother, the IRS lawyer.
(Yeah, those two don't get along particularly well.)
He and his family are always, always late with birthday cards, holiday cards, and thank-you notes. Always.
They have apparently acknowledged this, but they haven't resolved to do better. They've taken a different route. Today I received a birthday card, 7 weeks late, containing a check for $20.75.
The 75 cents is interest.

On my dad's side: my cousin Eric the other fundamentalist (and his 6 kids), my cousin Brian the carpenter (who named his kids after characters from X-Men and Star Trek -- seriously!), my globe-trotting stepgrandmother Ardis, and Aunt Jan and Uncle Bob who've taken to retirement by doing three-month long cross-country roadtrips in their van.
They're all great people, but I am often quite glad I don't live particularly close to any of them. :-) (With the exception of Ardis, who's just cool.)
