squeee!!!

What I did today:

1) Wrote 150 words of "Finding Marea"
2) Bought two bottles of wine
3) Had a nice visit with my parents and my dog
4) Discovered what became of the girl who used to work in the corner pizza place (she switched to a different pizza place downtown)
5) Signed a lease and put down a deposit for MY NEW APARTMENT!!!

It's the PERFECT apartment.

Well, okay, to be perfect it would need to cost $50 less per month, include the electric bill in the rent, and have laundry facilities in the basement instead of a couple blocks down the street... but seriously, it's an AMAZING apartment. It's the top floor of a small house in a nice neighborhood, far enough away from the Commons to be quiet but still with some commercial stuff close by (like a REAL GROCERY STORE just two blocks away!) and close enough that I can easily walk to the bus stop.

And it's cosy and comfortable, with enough space that I can bring all 5 of my bookcases and conceivably live there for years! It doesn't feel institutional. It feels like a HOME.

I haven't had a proper home for several years now. I haven't really lived with my parents for a long time, but all my other apartments and rooms have been shared and had a definite "temporary" feel to them. This doesn't.

I move in June 12th.

I AM SO HAPPY!!! *dances*

Remind me tomorrow to tell the story of the landlord whose apartments I'm not renting. This guy was just unbelievable.

Congratulations on your almost-perfect apartment!

Congratulations about the apartment!! I mean, the good one that you're going to rent. I'm so glad we've been out of the rental market for a long time.

Congratulations! I'm flashing back to my first post-college apartment, on Court St., with the truly crazy landlady. ::long shudder:: So glad to hear you've found a really good place--it makes such a difference. Is it your own place, or are you sharing? You sound roommate-free.
