I ended up skipping church on account of illness -- mild-to-moderate cold symptoms plus gastrointestinal distress -- and slept in until 1pm. I think I will be able to face work tomorrow if I continue to feel better.
Also I wrote some stuff.
1. I added a few hundred words to "The Corners of the World," which is a Jadis-centric Narnia fic I have been picking at off and on for three years now. It's a oneshot split into five parts, of which three (north, east, and south) are basically finished, one (west) is in process, and one (center) exists only as a notional entity. Basically I have reached the World Ash Tree and Jadis's discovery that she is written into the Deep Magic, and as part of Narnia's official government, no less! Which means the Tree of Protection is technically illegal, since it keeps her from her rightful work of dealing with Narnian traitors. *evil smile*
2. I finished part two of Four by Four, a Homestuck sedoretu AU that I started back in February. I will post that Monday night after I have a chance to look it over and also figure out if I want to repost the prompt on the latest iteration of the kinkmeme and fill it there, or just forget about that and put the fic on my own journal.
3. And I added a couple hundred words to part one of "Four by Four" and tidied it a little in preparation for putting it on AO3 now that I have another section to accompany it, which, again, I will do tomorrow night. (I still intend to write a third section, involving the beta kids meeting the alpha kids and realizing that in this universe Jane is Evening -- shock and horror all around! -- but all the sections more or less stand alone so that may take another half year or more.)
And now to bed, because my throat still hurts and I would like that to get better rather than worse.

So, does that make either Dirk or Roxy morning? Or do we just have three evenings and have to deal with it?

My thought is that in the beta universe, the Condesce didn't really understand moiety and made Jane and Jake (Nanna and Grandpa) both Morning, which they later decided would make their ectobiological kids both Morning as well. By the time she jumped to the alpha universe, the Condesce had figured out how moiety worked and was trying to throw wrenches into the players' interpersonal relationships. So she told that version of John (Poppop) that he was Evening. Which made his son (Dad Crocker) Morning, which -- since Crockercorp absolutely would not allow a hint of scandal in the background of the heiress apparent! -- meant Jane had to be Evening as well. And hey presto, Jane joins Dirk and Roxy in crushing on Jake since he's the only one of the correct moiety.
The beta kids are very surprised to discover this. So are the alpha kids. Jane is particularly weirded out because what if she really IS Morning and has been living her life backwards... and then you run into the existential question of whether any of the Sburb players have a "real" moiety at all, since none of them were born normally so there's no way to trace their ancestry outside of the game. Suddenly everyone is freaked out. *evil smile*
