Sorry about the weird streak on the far right edge. It was snowing, and I suspect that’s water on my phone’s camera lens.

(Also, yes, I do walk over a creek and past a gorgeous waterfall every time I go grocery shopping. *grin* As I have said before and will doubtless say again, I live in a ridiculously scenic area. Seriously, if you ever get a chance to visit the Finger Lakes region of New York, take it.)

Yes! It's equally pretty in spring, summer, and fall, though you can't see the waterfall itself very well from the bridge when there are leaves on the trees; you need to get down by the water's edge. (The area from the bridge to the waterfall is a tiny free park. Sometimes in the summer I like to sit on a rock and cool my feet in the creek.)

I've been to the Finger Lakes region! (Ithaca, actually, we visited Cornell when I was applying to colleges.) It really is a beautiful area--I don't think we got to see Ithaca Falls, though.

If you visited Cornell, you would have seen the upper sections of Fall Creek -- Bebe Lake and so on. Ithaca Falls is Fall Creek's last descent to lake level, roughly speaking, and you cannot get there directly from Cornell. There are at least two intervening waterfalls on the creek, which has no hiking trail in any case, and all roads on that part of the hill descend diagonally rather than straight.

You may also have seen the upper sections of Cascadilla Creek, which runs through the heart of Collegetown (just south of Cornell campus) and then through the heart of Ithaca. Unlike Fall Creek, there is a hiking trail in the Cascadilla Creek gorge, so you can climb from downtown to Collegetown right beside the water... but not in the winter, because nobody wants to deal with that much snow and ice removal. *wry*
