a brief digression on air conditioners

Random point of interest: the smoke shop's air conditioner has been essentially broken for a while now, because the construction workers had to move the vent on the roof and otherwise interfered with its ability to function. BUT! The landlords are aware that this makes our retail space unbearable once the ambient outdoor temperature passes 70F (we have huge south-facing windows, no tall buildings across the street, and no awnings; it gets hot), so they arranged to install a temporary jerry-rig around the disconnected AC parts for the next couple months.

Except it turns out that the jerry-rig requires parts that needed to be special-ordered. Ooops. And Monday and Tuesday were both over 80F and humid as sin all day long.

I have been assured that the parts have now arrived and the patch-job will happen Wednesday morning, but it may take a few hours to complete.

I really, really hope it's done by the time I punch in. It's no fun feeling like I'm being slow-cooked in my own sweat. :-(

O_O Good grief, this is such a clusterfuck, especially for a building that has operating businesses already in it.

Yeah, no. I'm pretty sure there are OSHA regulations specifically about temperature control and machinery in the workplace.
