wherein Liz talks obliquely about Remix and sex scenes

After tossing around ideas in my head for a week, I have started actively writing my RemixRedux fic. This is not the terrible and brilliant idea I had a couple weeks ago -- I couldn't get that one to resolve in tone between crack and a serious discussion of friendship and failed relationships -- so I am working off a different fic entirely.

I think there will be a sex scene at some point. That is weird enough on its own, since even when there is sex in my fic, I tend to fade to black or skim over it semi-explicitly at best, but this is not simply me attempting to rewrite a story containing sex. This is me trying to insert a sex scene into a story whose original text didn't have one.

I understand what you mean. Sex scenes are hard! ;)

They are! First, I have to get over my embarrassment at writing sex at all. Then I have to think about logistics. Then there's emotional tone, narrative purpose (because if the sex does not either move the plot or reveal something about a character or relationship, there is no point in writing it out), symbolism (if any), level of euphemism, and so on and so forth. Such a lot of work!

Action scenes are so much easier.
