Vacation '10, Day 1: Greetings from Minneapolis!
So my flight out of Ithaca was delayed about an hour (bad weather in Philadelphia), which meant I missed my connecting flight to Minneapolis/St. Paul. But US Airways rebooked me even before the Ithaca flight landed, so I just hung around the Philly airport for four hours.
This was actually something of a blessing (...well, mixed blessing; my team lost) because it meant I got to watch the US/Ghana World Cup match at a bar in the airport amidst a crowd of at least 100 people. Sports are always best when watched with a crowd who are really into it. Alas, we got outplayed, but it was nonetheless very fun and I would not have missed that for the world. :-)
(I am now wondering how peeved my parents will be if I spend significant portions of my vacation trying to watch soccer streaming live via ESPN or something... *ponders evilly*)
Anyway. I got into Minneapolis just ahead of a thunderstorm, and then my parents and I spent about half an hour calling management to fix the nonfunctional air conditioner in our hotel room, and, when that failed, transferring to the room next door.
And now I am off to bed, because Mom and I will be attending Sunday morning service at GA and I would prefer not to fall asleep in the middle of the sermon. In the afternoon, we will drive up to Cass Lake.

Nice to see you in my neck of the woods.

(I am a Jersey girl transplanted to New York, but my whole family is from Minnesota originally -- which is why we have a summer cabin on the island -- and my parents plan to retire to the Twin Cities in a couple years.)

Which was really something else in and of itself. At least two thousand UUs in one room at one time! I have never seen the like.
