life is made of things and stuff
Things I have done today:
1. Mail my monthly bills, which means two credit card payments and one rent payment. Both my credit cards are going to sock me with late fees. I know they will. This is so embarrassing -- I always pay stuff on time. But I just flat-out forgot A) that bills are a thing that exists, and B) that I hadn't paid mine yet this month.
Stupid depression.

2. Buy, pack, and address a birthday gift (plus enclosed card) for my sister. Now I just need to take it to the post office tomorrow so Vicky will get it by Tuesday.

3. Clean the water cylinder of the powdered cappuccino machine at the smoke shop. We try to do that every three months or so, because limescale builds up and sometimes random grit gets in. So this morning I bought two bottles of vinegar on my way to work, drained out the water, poured in the vinegar, topped up the cylinder with more water, and let it sit (with occasional scrubbing) from noon to about 6:30pm. Then I drained the vinegar, manually removed a whole bunch of limescale fragments that had flaked off the sides and the heating coil, and rinsed everything twice (by which I mean, filled the cylinder with water and drained it back out again). So I was at work an extra 45 minutes, but eh, whatever. It needed doing, and it's not like I won't get paid for my time.
Hmm. Theoretically I should also get reimbursed for the vinegar. I should ask Boss Lady about that when I'm downtown tomorrow. $5.94 is not a huge amount of money, but I wouldn't mind having it back in my wallet.

In other news, last night I posted all six of my December three sentence Star Trek: AOS ficlets over on AO3: here is the link. I still can't make my brain cough up new fiction, but I am regaining some ability to organize old fiction. So that's something.
