blah blah life
Done so far today:
1. Church (aka, 'advising' the high school youth group)
2. Breakfast
3. Nap
4. Laundry
5. Read two chapters of Life in a Medieval Village
6. Lunch
7. Figured out why a fic had stalled and made an outline from the fix onward
8. Put away half of laundry (washing/drying and folding/putting away are separate tasks, so there)
I still need to do my tax homework for tomorrow, and maybe write a note to Upstairs Neighbors E and T since I am pretty sure I will fink out of actually talking to them about the driveway rent. I think I will leave baking brownies for tomorrow.
Also I got my period and its accompanying cramps this afternoon. Blargh, bodies.
(The youth group, by the way, is great fun. I think every single one of the kids is a geek of some sort, and many of them also seem to be actively in fandom to some degree. I am not entirely sure what to do with this fact except squee along with them over various stuff -- it would be weird to be all, "Why yes, I am also in fandom; this is my internet name; please read my fic!" -- but I am very happy that they have a safe space within the RE program where they can be as ridiculous and open as they want. *grin*)

That's why I put meals on my lists, because those are necessities of life and managing to feed oneself at appropriate times is a significant accomplishment on bad days. I also tend to put on 'take a walk' and 'go to bed by X time,' since those are likewise basic life care tasks. In this case 'take a walk' was covered by going to church, which is why it's not listed as a separate item.
I also like to leave space at the bottom to add any unplanned tasks I do during the day -- in this case, remove a box from one of my closets, sort its contents, decide to get rid of 2/3 of said contents, put the kept items in more logical places, and use the now-empty box to hold all the hangers I cleared out of the closet a month ago and which had been lying in a messy pile on my floor. \o/
I use to-do lists more during depressive episodes, because I need externalized structure more at those times. Right now I'm just trying to make the most of a three-day weekend, which is easier if I write down the things I want to finish. Otherwise I rely on memory and my wall calendar, where I note a few specific kinds of obligation in color-coded markers: black for work; green for education; purple for church; and blue for trips, birthdays, elections, appointments, blood drives, etc. (Red is for tracking a completely different type of data.)

We had an offset version of the three-day weekend. All the schools in our district were closed Friday for "staff development" and are open today. The city libraries are closed today, though, so I suppose it was just the school district that decided not to have any truck with Columbus Day. Luckily the city library in the next town over is open today, so I will have a place to go if I feel like getting out of the house for a while without having to rent a table in a cafe. :-)
