3 unrelated things: Dreamwidth codes, computer problems, cleaning projects

Three completely unrelated things:

1. I have two Dreamwidth invite codes. Does anyone want them?

-----

2. I am having a recurrance of the computer problems that plagued me last fall, only this time instead of just freezing the screen after running for a few minutes, my computer is refusing to start 9 times out of 10.

I have no idea what the problem is, but I KNOW it is related to my move. My computer was fine in my old apartment. I turned it off, unplugged the cords, carried it to the new apartment, plugged the cords back in, turned it on... and it wouldn't start properly. It has been intermittently crashing ever since.

If this doesn't fix itself within a day or so, I am going to call the Geek Squad and make them reinstall all my damn software, which they said I should do if this problem occurred a third time. Well, this is the third time. But I will be damned if I go mucking around in my software on my own, because I have NO FUCKING CLUE what I would be doing. (Do not try to explain to me. I do not have the background to understand your explanations. I intend to remedy that someday, but this is not that day.)

-----

3. I spent two and a half hours this afternoon cleaning my old apartment within an inch of its metaphorical life. There is still some dust in the hardest-to-reach corners, and a metal piece fell off one radiator, and a plastic water-baffle (or water-guard) that Mr. B installed fell off the bathtub when I tried to scrub it... but these are minor issues, and the bathtub itself is about twenty times cleaner than when I moved in, so whatever.

I still have some stuff to haul over to my new place -- my vacuum cleaner, a box of old art projects and notebooks, two boxes of boxes (for wrapping and mailing Xmas and birthday presents), one container of cleaning supplies, several bags of clothes I am donating to my church recycling sale -- and a bunch of trash and recycling to put out either there or here. But that's just mopping up.

Basically? I am done with my old place. And that feels good.

Hi, mind to share one of your Dreamwidth invite code to me? You could send it to my e-mail: dkumachan94@yahoo.com. Thanks a lot for your kindness♥

Computers seem to be breaking down during the fall heh. Mine broke down 2 years ago during winter but we didn't bring it in to fix. Everytime we start it, it'll just go straight to DOS Mode telling us there's a problem. Thing is, I don't do DOS. So, we just bought a new one. XD

Also, if you have any Dreamwidth invite code left, could I possibly snag one? :3 My email is crude.fix@gmail.com

Cheers, AJ

Maybe something got jolted loose in your computer? That's all I can think of if the thing was fine before the move.

Problems after moving are more likely to be physical. I can think of two main possibilities.

If it was not connected to power for longer than normal, your CMOS battery, which keeps the startup information live, may not have been able to cope. They are cheap and (usually) simple to replace, but you still need a geek expert to reset your BIOS startup parameters. You don't actually need this battery if you can guarantee not a moments lack of power;I wouldn't risk it.

Or some connection may have jiggled loose. Someone needs to open it up and push all the connections to make sure they are tight. There are more push together bits than seems possible before you do it.

Enjoy your new place; de-cluttering feels great.

Sounds like something inside jolted loose, or you need replacement for the battery as noted above. You might want to tell the Geek Squad agent when you take your computer in that the issue only started after your physically moved the computer.

Also, congrats on the successful move.
