3 things: off to Star Island; car crash at the smoke shop; minor NFE angst

1. Tomorrow morning I leave for Minnesota, yay! ...On a 6:20am flight, not so yay. I have a taxi scheduled for 5:30, since the bus doesn't run that early. This means I will have to get up at 4:30, so I will have time to do all the last minute fiddling that going away for a week necessitates. I firmly believe that getting up before 8am is unnecessary and getting up before 7am is appalling -- plus I work mostly closing shifts, which means I rarely have to get up before 10am even on work days, which also means I rarely go to bed before 2am -- so I am, as one might imagine, less than pleased with this.

On the other hand, I will get to Cass Lake in time to enjoy the afternoon and evening. There is a trade off with these things. *wry*

2. We had a minor bit of excitement at work today. A woman driving down the hill had her right front tire explosively blow out, lost control of her car, and crashed into the cars parked in front of the smoke shop. PM had me call 911 and get police on the scene, and there was much restrained wailing and gnashing of teeth from the driver in question, plus the owners of the two parked cars that were damaged. (One of which was a vintage 1960s Volkswagen convertible. The insurance on that must be interesting.)

3. The Narnia Fic Exchange ([livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange) has been running for 25 days now. I suspect that means there are ten or fewer stories left to post. Funny thing: neither the story I wrote nor the story written for me have yet been posted. I am beginning to feel rather like a phantom spectator. *sadface* This is also getting deeply frustrating, because I would like to see the story I wrote posted and find out if people think it's any good!

Tangentially, you should go read the stories that have already been posted. They are all at the very least interesting, and I think many of them are outright excellent. :-)

There are maybe 5 stories left, including yours -- yes, there's only one that has gone up that was long enough to be yours and I knew it wasn't. I cannot WAIT to read it. There is yours. There is one I beta'd (that I LOVE), and one that I wrote. plus two more.

Have a lovely time in MN! Will you have internet access?

Hmm, yes, well as you observed, sometimes it is impossible to hide your world building, and I find it much the same. Last year was bad enough. This year, it's pretty ridiculous though it's funny -- I've had a couple of readers ask if one story was mine and it wasn't -- they saw some of my influence in it and thought if it wasn't mine, that I had at least beta'd it. At some point, you just can't hide it anymore. I really can't wait to read yours.

Hello!

I've been reading your stories for a while now, and I think they are lovely, lovely, lovely. I know I should review, but I'm lazy. :P

Do you mind if I friend you? Don't feel obligated to friend me back, by any means. It's just slightly more convenient for me to do fannish stuff on lj, and I don't want you to think you've picked up a creepy stalker.
