Oh, what the heck. This has been going around, and I could use some structure in my life. So!

Pick a date in December and give me a topic, and I'll ramble about it for a bit. It can be anything from fandom-related to life-related to pizza preferences to whatever you want. Short ficlets are also a possibility.

The responses will probably be brief, or not, depending on the subject. Also, I reserve the right to decline prompts that I don't feel equipped to meet.

Sure! That's a pretty broad topic, though -- do you have anything in particular under that umbrella that you'd like me to focus on, or shall I just ramble at will?

Well, I had been thinking that there's precious few in fantasy (so many princesses!) - but also, not too many presentations of ordinary working-class life in popular television, either (all lawyers or advertising executives!). :D But then I thought, 'oh, just leave it open'. So I did.

Everybody is welcome! And sure, I will talk about the Vorkosigan saga. It doesn't tend to come up on this journal because I'm not "in" the fandom, so to speak, and I haven't kept monthly reading lists for many years now, but I've definitely read the series. :-)

I hadn't known there *was* an active fandom, to be honest! At least not a social one I've run into online. It was just a title I recognized and liked, so hearing someone else's thoughts on the series sounded cool. :D

There's a fair amount of fic on AO3, and I think there is or has been a fandom-specific holiday fic exchange -- Winterfair Gifts, perhaps? Bujold also has her own forum or mailing list or something which has at least in the past been quite active for fandom discussion, though obviously not so much for fic. I don't know where that is, though, nor how one would get involved with it. You could probably also try tag searches on Dreamwidth, since IIRC several people who write Vorkosigan fic keep journals here.

I've certainly complained about my process on many specific stories over the years, but I'm not sure I've talked much about my writing process in general. So yes! *adds to list*

Well... I'd love to hear about your thoughts about Doctor Who in general, because I didn't realize you'd watched anything. However, it is not always very fun to talk about a show you didn't fall in love with so!

I can certainly talk about Doctor Who in general, though that may sprout some tangents into thoughts on why audiovisual media have never clicked for me regardless of my feelings about any specific story told in that format. (It's annoying, because there are a lot of television shows I'd like to watch, but it never seems to work out. *sigh*)
