Almost a year ago, I wrote a little fic called "Babel," which dealt with two interesting observations about language in the Narnian world. (Well, I think they're interesting.) The trouble is that as part of dressing up those observations in a dialogue scene between Susan and Edmund, I also made use of a concept I'd borrowed from somebody else's Disney film-based fanfiction, without bothering to check that concept against canon.
It turns out that the concept -- of a Narnian language that is distinct from English -- is utterly contradicted by evidence within the books. Narnians speak English, from the creation of their world to its destruction, and so do all their neighbors.
So I gnashed my teeth and set the ficlet aside as a movie-canon annex to my other Narnia fic. But I always meant to get around to revising it one day. Now I have.
The new, canon-compliant version is now up here on AO3 and here on ff.net. So yay!
(You can still read the old version if you are interested in comparisons.)

In other news, Lune's portion of "The Courting Dance" is now at 675 words, and this version still seems to be working. *crosses fingers*
In other other news, I went grocery shopping today and the store had several plastic containers of mini strudel sticks available (I think they call them strudel bites), in the lemon flavor and the strawberry & cheese flavor. So I bought two of each flavor. I adore mini strudel. It is one of my great weaknesses. Fortunately for my health, they are not usually available, but for the next few days I will be indulging myself. :-)
