Been a while, whoops! Anyway, things done today:

1. Worked 4 hours (10am-2pm) to partially cover for Mr. Geniality leaving early to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather on the lake. We did not succeed in renting all our apartments by the end of August, but we have been slowly whittling down our empty stock. The problem is that we have also had a handful of tenants break their leases (one person got Section 8 housing and left according to procedure; one person moved up to Collegetown; one person hated two apartments in succession so we just let them go; one person had some kind of family emergency and had to move to New Mexico or something to help out; and so on) so it feels a bit like we're treading water.

The Collegetown office is in full swing of the 2024-25 rental season, but we won't start that downtown for another couple-three weeks.

Oh, also! We have yet another new hire in the Collegetown office, and I have a good feeling about her. She asks questions to make sure she's doing things correctly, but also doesn't get hopelessly flustered if she makes minors errors.

2. Bought some non-perishable groceries and then used my gas points to buy gas. I will probably hit up the store again tomorrow evening for the perishable items.

3. Drove out to Groton to donate blood. This was the only drive on a day when I had time available, because I had to cancel two previous appointments due to a nasty bout of the flu. (It was not Covid. Trust me, I checked. Three times. But the illness lasted a week and the dregs lingered for a second week -- flu can be plenty unpleasant on its own.)

4. Voted in the first round of Fat Bear Week, which is always a highlight of the fall. :)
