a writing contest and a leaky sink

Two other things from the weekend, one good, one bad:
1) The Star Island Protective League, among its other activities, puts out a yearly newsletter/directory called The Loon. One item it often contains is the John Mosedale writing contest. The 2010 contest theme was "a walk in the woods," and I happened to fall within the participant criteria, so I submitted my poem "Inland, Walking South".
I found out on Sunday that I won. The prize is $50 -- not much, in the grand scheme of things -- but very nice nonetheless. :-)

2) On the less good hand, on Saturday I needed to get a plastic bag from my stash under the kitchen sink, and noticed that all the bags were rather damp. This had been the case a couple times before over the past month, and it suddenly occurred to me that since they are under the sink... maybe the sink was leaking.
I was right. It is leaking. The drain attachment that connects the sink to the pipe has come completely loose and water just pours around the edges.
Fortunately, it's a two-basin sink and the right-hand basin is working just fine. So I have stuffed a bag in the drain of the left-hand basin as a reminder not to use it, put a bucket under the pipe in case I forget, and I will call my landlords on Wednesday when I have the day off to wait for a return call.
