my sister is a kartoffelkopf
Dec. 31st, 2003 02:47 amAm waiting up for my sister to get home. Am beginning to think she may have decided to sleep over at someone's house after her friend's birthday party. Or else she's just out with Mike or Lee or Janet or someone, talking and hanging out until 5am like she does sometimes. Bugger this. I need sleep.
On the brighter side, today Cat and I went shopping and I bought Endless Nights, Neil Gaiman's return to The Sandman, and I love it! Also bought a travel book about Tuscany for Mom's birthday next year (it has really nice pictures and she has a thing for Tuscan landscapes) and a turtleneck and a sweater from Old Navy -- both very comfortable, and on sale. Sales are a very good thing.
Oh, and I bought an Edward Gorey calendar -- a sort of alphabet menagerie of imaginary (and often gloomy, as this IS Gorey) animals drawn in black ink. I've liked Edward Gorey ever since I saw the opening credits for Mystery on PBS and figured out that someone must have drawn them, as pictures don't spontaneously appear from the ether.
Might be nice if they did, though. Then perhaps I could get some visions in my head onto paper properly instead of giving up for lack of natural artistic talent and the patience required to learn despite that.
