My aunt's cat Neil, who had metastasized cancer, had to be put to sleep a few days ago. He was a useless cat, always hid under the bed when people visited, but after a while he'd come out and watch quietly from a corner. You could sit in companionable silence with him. Rest in peace, Neil.

Other news: yesterday and this morning I wrote 900 words of "Paint the Town," which Hermione then stalled by asking Ron an unanswerable question (which I had NO IDEA she was going to do, blast her), and 1300 words of "Apartment Manager," in which I discovered that Yukiko and her extended family have somewhat touchy relations.

Am now off to buy some of Olin's really good banana bread. Mmmm, banana bread...
