4. Meeny

My replacement squash have sprouted! (Well, five of them.) For placeholder purposes, I will be calling them Yan, Tan, Tethera, Methera-who-has-yet-to-appear, Pip, and Sethera. (Those names are a mishmash of various British sheep-counting systems, which I think I picked up from a Garth Nix book at some point.)

Meanwhile Meeny continues to thrive... and while I was cleaning out my kitchen this evening (a thing I haven't done for a couple months, because I was so drowned by work that I gave up on cooking for a while) I had to chuck three onions on account of mold and discovered that another one had sprouted. Whoops. It is currently in a small dish with a bit of water, and I will probably plant it this weekend after I've bought two or three large bags of potting soil.

5. An unexpected onion appears!

I grew an onion in 2014 for the hell of it -- it was also an accidental sprout -- but I had no idea when to try harvesting it, which resulted in the plant attempting to sprout and bloom a second time in a single year and eating its bulb down to nothing. Perhaps this time I will do some actual research and manage this unexpected onion better than the last one.

Or maybe it will up and die before I plant it, which would be a little sad, but no great blow. I am pretty philosophical about onions. *wry*
