1. Dental appointment at 8:15am. My teeth are fine, yay! The office manager was out for the week because of some unspecified life crisis, so I did not pay my bill on Monday (the hygienists have not been trained to work the billing program -- scheduling yes, financials no) but I should receive one in the mail sometime this coming week.

2. Made my weekly Facebook update.

3. Emailed the DRE about summer and fall youth group plans. I have not yet heard back, but I will try to corner her in person on Sunday and chat for a few minutes.

4. Caught a bus out to the mall and watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which I enjoyed A LOT. :D

5. Bought a spare bag of potting soil from Target since I was at the mall already and you can never have too much potting soil.

6. Phone call with Vicky Monday night, since that ended up being more convenient for her than Thursday and I wasn't doing anything else when she called. :)

7. Voted in the Ithaca City School District election after work on Tuesday the 16th. The three Board of Education candidates were all running unopposed (and have, by and large, been doing a decent job); they were all re-elected handily. There were also four propositions: the general 17-18 budget, two 'can we fund a specific project' things, and one rather arcane proposition involving sewer line maintenance and property easement rights for one of the ICSD elementary schools; those all passed.

I try to make a point of voting in local elections, because I feel voting is a responsibility as well as a right. I am also very grateful to the Ithaca Times (a free weekly newspaper) because they run an election issues/meet the candidates feature a week or two before every election, which is incredibly useful as a starting point for making sure I understand what and who I'm voting for.

8. Phone call with Susan Wednesday night. :)

9. Gave blood Thursday morning. Yay social responsibility!

10. Phone call with Cat Thursday afternoon. :)

11. Watered my houseplants.

12. Potted a pretty blue muscari (aka, grape hyacinth) plant I received last Sunday from one of my youth group kids and her mom.

13. Cleaned my bathroom.

14. Thinned squash.

15. Got a haircut! I specifically asked my barber to cut it VERY short, since he tends to let it go a little shaggier during the winter but in summer that can get sweaty and annoying.

Randomly, my barber is trying to matchmake for me? He's going to get the phone number of a guy he thinks I'd get along with, and then the next time I go in for a trim he'll give me the number. I am not looking for romance, but there is probably no harm in calling this guy and maybe going hiking in one of the local gorges or something.

Anyway, we'll see if anything comes of that.

16. Took compost to communal bin.

17. Cleaned and labeled the pots and planters I intended to use for my peppers.

18. While I had the white paint container open, I went outside and touched up the labels on the trash cans that Landlord Dude supplied, Upstairs Neighbors E & T, and my diagonal neighbors. (Downstairs Neighbor S keeps her trash and recycling in the carport, separate from the rest of us.) Originally they were just three identical plastic bins, but I got annoyed at the possibility of having to pay to have somebody else's trash collected so I painted labels on them within the week that he purchased them. (And trust me, if I hadn't done that, former Diagonal Neighbor P WOULD have dumped her trash into every single one of those bins and never paid for a single pickup. She was... let's go with chronically untidy and distracted, yeah?)

19. Bought groceries.

20. Repotted my peppers!

...

You will note that I still have not cooked the fajitas for which I did ingredient prep last week. The containers of sliced onion, pepper, and chicken have been sitting in the freezer for a week and a half now. I may try to get that dealt with tomorrow night, but give that I will already be baking brownies (church obligations), I am inclined to doubt I will manage the fajitas until Monday. *sigh*

I failed to get any writing done whatsoever -- like, I got a couple hundred words toward a prompt response, but there were aimless twaddle, totally unusable, and I haven't managed to get any of the slightly less awful ideas onto a page. Blargh.

I think, on the balance of evidence, that I have probably been stuck in a mild blue funk for the past couple weeks. I hadn't noticed sooner because I haven't felt particularly disconnected (one of my main depressive symptoms), but I have definitely been suffering from executive dysfunction (aka, lack of can-do), disordered sleeping patterns, and a general lack of enthusiasm for things I would normally enjoy. I also may have fic-binged a couple times, which is a telling symptom even without the disconnection that usually triggers it.

There is really nothing to do except try to fight the disordered sleeping patterns and wait it out. And maybe to grit my teeth and force myself to write, because that CAN be done and I do generally feel a lot better for up to a full day after completing some kind of creative work in the face of my brain's attempt to paint the whole world gray. I guess I'll see if I have any free time at work tomorrow to get that prompt response pinned down.
