ugh, work (part three)

*collapses into chair*
Ye gods and little fishes, today was AWFUL.
I mean, not in the sense that any particularly terrible individual thing happened. Just-- it was an entire day, not of one damn thing after another, but of multiple damn things constantly overlapping and I only occasionally felt like I got on top of the wave as it crashed toward shore. At one point before Mom Boss and Aunt Boss arrived this morning, I had a line of a dozen people waiting for various things, and the phone kept ringing.
Also I had to drive out to Dryden for the TC3 scholarship orientation session this afternoon, which is not very useful for me since its primary purpose is to introduce nontraditional students to each other and I do all my classes online so I'm not going to run into the other scholarship recipients. So that was an hour of driving (30 minutes each way, in heavy traffic) and an hour of sitting around to very little purpose, though I did grab the chance to pick up my electronic textbook access code from the bookstore. (I have no idea why it was sitting there in hardcopy printout instead of emailed to me, but I have basically given up trying to understand that store's logistics.)
I wound up staying an extra twenty minutes at work after I locked up this evening, just so I could finally finish a handful of minor projects I kept getting interrupted before I could deal with. I didn't want to leave too much of a mess for New Hire 2 when she opens tomorrow morning.
I got myself some Chinese takeout again and I think I may fall into bed by 9:30 tonight. We'll see how firmly I can hang on to my resolve. *wry*
