ANALYSIS
As always, I count words by posting date rather than writing date, which can give somewhat misleading results if you are trying to track my periods of greatest productivity.
Anyway, while I did manage to write and post 825 more words than I did in 2018, this is still an ABSURDLY output for a whole year. I don't have any external reasons why I didn't write much -- no college, and my tax work wasn't overwhelming in January through April. I just... wasn't really motivated to write, so I mostly didn't. *hands* Maybe establishing some kind of regular writing schedule might help on that front, which I guess is one of my new habits to attempt in the new year. (It was this past year, too, but what I actually wound up doing was finding ways to fit listening to audiobooks and podcasts into my life, and also reading more books again instead of like 90% fanfic as I'd been doing for a while. Those are both fine achievements, but I'm going to give the writing schedule another try.)
I signed up for three fic challenges/exchanges this year: Remix Revival, Narnia Fic Exchange, and Yuletide. I completed all three. I also ran two mini-ficlet prompt memes, using my
genprompt_bingo and
ladiesbingo cards and resulting in nine ficlets. I still have one ficlet in WIP stage from the first mini-ficlet prompt meme, which I have hopes of finishing this January.
Did you write more than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
---Significantly less, alas.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
---I mean, my Yuletide fandoms are often completely unexpected, which was certainly true this year. My Remix fandom was likewise not something I'd previously thought of writing fic for, though I've played with at least one of Andersen's other fairy-tales.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
---Nope.
Do you have any fanfic or original fic goals for the coming year?
---As always, write more!
Favorite story -- not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest
---"What Wind Is to Fire" and "In Death's Garden."
Best story
---See above.
Most underappreciated by the universe
---My Yuletide fic, which is fine because it's an obscure canon with no extant fandom, and the story itself is a canon-divergence AU that makes no sense unless you've read all three books of said obscure canon.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
---None this year, which I guess goes along with not taking any real risks.
Sexiest story
---I guess "The Fruits of Her Labor" or "The Letter of the Law" or "Kiss and Run Away"? Those are the ones that get sexy even obliquely. If you want to step sideways and ask which story is the most sensual, though, I'm pretty sure that's "What Wind Is to Fire."
Hardest story to write
---The prompt fic I am trying to finish in January!
Easiest story to write
---All the OTHER prompt ficlets. *headdesk*
Most fun to write
---Oh, the Narnia/Inception crossover. Obviously. I mean, what's not to love about that scenario? :D (The Snow White/Darkangel Trilogy crossover is equally amusing to me, though as a three-sentence ficlet it's so tiny it hardly counts.)
Most disappointing
---Any WIP I didn't finish! *headdesk*
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
---None. Honestly, this doesn't usually happen to me unless I go into a writing project with the express purpose of figuring out how to make an unlikely thing seem plausible, in which case convincing myself of the proposition/interpretation is the whole point of the exercise, because if I can't talk myself into buying something there's no way I can talk someone else into buying it either.
Story with the single sweetest moment
---Um. Probably any of the Rose/Jade stories in the "Leaf and Letter" series, or else "Kiss and Run Away," or maybe "Aim High"? I dunno, I'm not great at assessing the sweetness level of stories that I didn't write with the specific goal of creating sugary fluff. *wry*
Biggest surprise
---Nothing I wrote this year particularly surprised me.
Most revealing story
---I don't feel that any of this year's work was especially personal for me? Except maybe my Yuletide and Remix fics, but the revelation-of-personal-preoccupations aspect of my Remix fic is undercut by working off someone else's initial idea, and the Yuletide fic is more a proof-of-concept than the 15,000+ word novella that would really give me room to set up my soapbox.

And that is that for the year. :)
