Have finished plotting chapter 2 of "Strange Likenesses." Have also written maybe a third of the Dueling Club scene, which puts me at 3,500 words on "Secrets" chapter 8. Yay!

This is the type of scene that I both love and loathe, since JKR actually wrote it in canon and I have to incorporate all her dialogue and work around her timeline of actions. So if Lockhart says something, I have to have him say it. And if I need Daphne to hex Ginny in the back, I have to check Harry and Draco's duel to see how much time I have before Snape calls the room back to order.

It's a real challenge, and I like to think I meet it well. But it is SO much more time-consuming than just writing my own scenes, either created from whole cloth or inspired by a throwaway line or two in canon.

Am still sick, but not as badly as yesterday. The nasal part has switched from runny to mildly stuffy, which is a pain but means that mucus is no longer dripping down through my body and turning my throat into a painful expanse of raw meat.

I can put up with a stuffy nose a lot more easily than a throat that might as well be doused in gasoline and lit on fire.
