Things:

1. Our company owner (or more accurately, his sister; he's on board with this but is not the driving force) has decided that everyone in our office needs to read various rental how-to books, and has bought us all our own private copies. We are mostly just smiling and nodding and going along with it. I mean, there are a few useful tips in the first book, but the second one is... um... very self-helpy cult-of-positive-thinking yay-capitalism, shall we say.

2. We finally got rain yesterday and today. Of course, it was in the form of brief but torrential afternoon thunderstorms, so, you know, not exactly the best way to break a dry spell, but hey. We'll take it. My garden is certainly pleased.

3. I was going to make banana bread tomorrow, but as I was lifting the bananas to check their degree of over-ripeness, one split open so I sighed and am currently baking a batch of banana bread tonight instead. *hands* I mean, I do not object to banana bread! It's just that I now have an active heat source in my kitchen several hours after what is ideal on a warm summer night.

4. I think I mentioned that I worked 10am-4pm on Tuesday, right? Well, I will be working from 11am to some unspecified point in the afternoon on Saturday, so as to give Miss California time to take more apartment photos and videos, and then work on getting those edited and posted on our new Youtube account. I will be making more ads on various sites and handling general office business -- and possibly helping Miss California stage and then unstage one specific apartment that we really need to handle tomorrow before any tenants move in.

5. I have received an invitation to apply to Not the IRS for the next tax season. I must get that sorted out this weekend, and then sign up for some continuing education courses, which I have been neglecting to think about due to generalized stress and the unreality of time.

6. I called my parents tonight just to chat. Mom was very pleased to hear from me. She misses the way I used to call several times a week while walking home from closing up the smoke shop. These days, even when I'm walking home from work rather than driving, I tend to be listening to audiobooks or podcasts rather than making phone calls. I should probably work on that.

...

I'm going to go check the timer on the banana bread. I think it's about ready to come out of the oven.
