Work update:

What we've settled on is that I will work Wednesday-Saturday at the downtown satellite office, and Monday up in Collegetown. All shifts will be 10am-6pm, because reasons. I also got Wednesday off this week to keep from disrupting my schedule too much, so today was my first day downtown.

What I did mostly was figure out how to turn on the air conditioning, go on a tour of our properties on the Commons with Mr. Geniality (tentative nickname for my downtown office counterpart), and start making spreadsheets to get a picture of what work I will have to do over the next few months.

At the moment, the satellite office is desperately bare, but I made a big office supply order today (with permission) that should help fill in a lot of the missing stuff. I have also made some furniture requests to Maintenance, a couple of which have already been filled (we have two bookcases now, because shelves are useful) and the others should proceed over the next few days. (Most important: a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a trash can.) I'm going to ask for a couple more pieces of furniture tomorrow, because I think having some kind of table to put with the microwave and fridge would be useful. I may also move the bookcases to create a sense of private space in the back -- this will require moving Mr. Commercial's desk a couple yards toward the front of the office, but eh, he'll live. I will also eventually need a proper office chair, but I think that can wait a week or two.

We're still working out a bunch of practical details, but I got a lot of programs set up on my computer today, including a shiny new company email account (and I made a new downtown office Gmail account in case that becomes relevant), so that's something. Apparently I will have no internet until at least 11am tomorrow morning, so my current plan is to head up to Collegetown and grab some notes from my clipboard and also email myself a bunch of links so I can continue various aspects of my Collegetown job downtown. (Mostly ad-related stuff. Oh god, I have to see if downtown has a Craigslist account. I have a terrible feeling they don't, in which case I will have to create one... or they do have one, in which case I need to acquire the account name and password.)

I also need to check with Mom Boss whether it would be more logical for me to set up Downtown photo galleries on the Collegetown Shutterfly account, or to set up a separate downtown Shutterfly account. I highly doubt that downtown has a Shutterfly account. I am also unsure what Mr. Geniality has been doing with his handful of apartment tour videos. They have to go on YouTube eventually, but again: same account as Collegetown, or two separate accounts?

Also I will be alternating between two different Rent Manager accounts because the company doesn't want to buy me a dedicated new user access when everything about the satellite office is still so tentative. So some days I will be using the NYC office account (which they apparently only use for ~30 minutes a day? weird) and other days I will be using my current account if Miss California is not in the Collegetown office. That's not sustainable in the long run, but we'll make it work for now.

...

I'm going to have to explore lunch options on the Commons all over again. They've changed since the last time I worked in the neighborhood (2014, when the smoke shop closed), and then changed again given Covid 19 and all that. Today I checked the Center Ithaca food court, where everything was closed, so I walked a bit further to Taste of Thai and got a takeout order of chicken pad thai. It was enough food for lunch and dinner for ~$9.50 after tax, which is pretty good value -- tasty, too. :)

Right. I think that's all for now. More details to follow as we shake the satellite office into shape.
