edenfalling: golden flaming chalice in a double circle (gold chalice)

In summary, our minister is resigning at the end of the church year (end of June, basically).

Additionally, the three Board members whose terms are up have all decided not to run again, and two members whose terms are NOT up have chosen to resign since they don't have enough time/energy to properly serve at the moment.

So we have to replace five Board members at the annual meeting, AND find an interim minister, AND continue the congregational soul-searching stemming from events last summer, AND create a settled minister search committee, AND work out how to handle the ongoing issue of the recycle sale fundraiser, AND AND AND.

It is A LOT, is all I'm saying.

...

Also I am super upset that our minister is resigning. I fully support her and believe her when she says it's the best choice for her, but she is amazing and wonderful and we have been so lucky to have her, and she will be a really hard act to follow -- not to mention our congregation has a reputation of being unable to keep settled ministers which has been building since the 1990s and is, unfortunately, entirely based in fact.

I am going to serve my third and final year on the Board, and then I am quitting and moving to Minnesota, just see if I don't.

Also, if anyone tries to make me be President or Vice President instead of Clerk, I will... well, I won't do it, for starters (I would make a very bad President or Vice President and I know my limits; I'm good support staff and not a great leader), but I also don't want to deal with the "but service!" guilt trip I know I'll lay on myself if anyone asks. Brains are terrible like that.

...

So yeah, that's been my life this past week, and will continue being my life for the foreseeable future, which includes a Zoom meeting with a UUA congregational transition coordinator person Thursday at 11am, which I will have to surreptitiously duck out of my actual job to attend. Ugh.

...

Okay, I'm done griping for now.
