Today's fun incident:

So we have a problem tenant. That is nothing new -- we have at least one problem tenant every year, because we have ~300 people in our apartments and humans are gonna human.

The new wrinkle is that this tenant has a delusion that they work for the FBI.

When they were just making weird rambling verbal comments about their supposed hush-hush job, we were like, "Oh, whatever." and basically ignored it. (We did, however, start an eviction process based on some of their other behavior, which is so disruptive that it has driven two other tenants out of the building.)

BUT. This afternoon the tenant sent us an email (unrelated to the eviction) in which they once again claimed to be an FBI agent, this time IN WRITING, complete with a made-up special agent job title and an FBI logo in their signature, and threatened to use their supposed position to have the FBI shut down and sell off the rental company if we don't do X, Y, and Z by October 31.

That is called impersonating a federal agent, and is illegal.

And I cannot tell you anything further because this may have switched from a civil eviction procedure to a criminal case. 😬
