I am progressing through the stages of the cold, by which I mean that I now have a stuffed-up nose, a raspy voice, and an intermittent dry cough, all of which is very annoying and made my sleep thin and fragmented last night.
Nonetheless, I am still more mentally/emotionally together than I was on Monday, so I persevere, helped by quite a lot of black tea with honey.
Once again I only got through about 85% of the tasks I wanted to tackle at the rental company, and once again I think that is a pretty decent record considering my illness. Apparently the cops last night came with a social worker who is supposed to take the problem tenant in for a mandatory mental health check or something, but the tenant refuses to open their door so it was another impasse. Today a process server came by to serve the tenant with another piece of eviction paperwork -- I suspect they also failed to get the tenant to unlock the door, but I believe after a certain number of failed attempts they're allowed to tape the papers to the door. I am not sure where we are in that process.
After I left the rental office, I spent an hour and a half at Not the IRS. My first client rescheduled with their usual tax preparer (our automated scheduling algorithm strikes again), and my second client ghosted me (probably also an automated scheduling algorithm casualty) -- alas!. But I was able to finish 90% of a drop-off a new client had left for me on Tuesday, and email them to ask for the few missing pieces of information, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
Then I bought some flour (for snickerdoodles) and more tea, and came home to eat dinner.
I plan to be in bed by 9pm, but I think this night I will drug myself with NyQuil or Benadryl in hopes of A) decongesting my nose a smidgeon and B) knocking myself out. We shall see how that pan out.
