Could not take the Spenser essay any more (there is only so much one can say at a time about knighthood and deception and self-contradiction and pride and humility and the definition of nobility and obligation), so I took a break to clear my head. I ended up doing more background work on "The Summoner's Tale," mostly because Catherine fascinates me. I love her to pieces, but she's so messed up.

Anyway. Here's another snippet, which helps clarify some of her motives for trying to kick-start the end of the world as we know it... as much as one can ever clarify such a thing.

In other news, the downstairs entryway light and the second-floor landing light are both dead. I love my house (it's an 8-bedroom, rented out by room), but it's really a run-down piece of crap sometimes. And I think one of the toilets flooded yesterday. At any rate, the bathmat was suspiciously soaked and stinky, and left in a crumpled pile by the toilet. *sigh*

A temporary fit of qualified patriotism, otherwise known as my 15-minute fic for this week. These things are like crack, I swear to God. Worse than gummi bears (which are the most addictive substance known to humankind).

So, here we have an American perspective on the Voldemort situation after the attack on the Ministry of Magic in OoP.

Further news: in a shocking development, it turns out that we don't have a VCR in the house. This is bad, since I need to watch some videos for my film course on the Holocaust. Chris tells me, however, that one of the university libraries has TVs set up for people to watch videos. *big sigh of relief*

Really, though... we have the technology to support really complicated video games, including some sort of Final Fantasy, but no VCR? I feel gypped by "improved" technology.
