catchall update
Oct. 24th, 2004 06:34 pm1) Have returned home to Ithaca, after my flying visit to NJ. It's good to be back in my own room with all my stuff. (It's funny; my room at my parents' house is still also "my room," and it has the vast majority of my books, but it feels kind of funny to be there, 'cause a lot of my peripheral junk isn't there anymore. And I have, finally, officially moved out forever... or at least am in the long, slow process of doing so.)
2) Cat has now edited chapter 4 of "First You Have to Get There," which is good. And she's doing well -- she's cut back her days at the Farm, if not her hours, so she has some time for an actual life. However, she's using most of that new free time to learn Latin and apply to grad schools. *shakes head* I wonder where we got onto such different life tracks? We were pretty similar back when we were younger, and now she's gone all academic archaeologist while I'm floofing around doing temp work and dabbling in fiction.
3) Susan's also kind of floofing around for a year, working at a local florist, but she's presumably going to do something academic in a year or two... when she figures out what that should be. (She's an art major. Except she's not sure she wants to do art professionally. Or something like that; I'm terrible at remembering my friends' future plans.)
4) Writing threesome sex scenes is the most embarrassing thing I have ever done, I swear to god. It's not even that explicit, but the idea that I'm actually sitting down composing and typing this sort of thing keeps knocking me out of the story and back into "What the hell am I DOING?!" mode. This is very irritating.
5) My dog has gone almost totally deaf, and gets very surprised if you walk up behind her. She's still awfully sweet, though, and since she can't hear so well, she spends less time barking out the window at various passersby.
6) I need to cut back my caffeine intake. Only ONE Coke per day, not two.
