sunshine makes everything better
Jan. 30th, 2005 01:05 pmAm now feeling much less blue than I was this past week (insomnia is evil like that) and my writing has consequently perked up. No more depressing Ekanu ficlets for a while.
Instead, I twiddled a bit at "Apartment Manager" chapter 8, and also started a story I've been meaning to write for years. It's sort of like "Bluebell," my cockeyed retelling of the Firebird fairy-tale, but this one is a version of "Ricky of the Tuft," which was a story that I've always simultaneously loved and had serious issues with.
Because it has screwed up ideas about beauty, intelligence, family caring, and so on. And the ending is too pat. And in the illustrated version I had, I always liked Ricky better before he got handsome. *shrug*
So I'm doing it properly. 2000 words so far!
---------------------------------
I dreamed I was editing fic last night, with red pen and little proofreader's notations. I would much rather have the previous night's dreams, which involved loons, poisonous bugs, habitable moons, really weird twists on genetic engineering and Star Wars, a grape arbor, deep sea jellyfish, and a sunny woodland glade.
Those, at least, had nothing to do with my daily life!
