edenfalling: stylized black-and-white line art of a sunset over water (red flower)
For my birthday I got money, earrings, the complete works of Emily Dickinson, a letter from my grandmother, and a cake.

The earrings are antique Venetian glass, and they're purple which is great because I wear a LOT of purple (blue's my favorite color but I look best in red & pink; I compromise on purple), and they're dangles which is good because dangling earrings flatter my face more than small ones. *loves Cat*

And poetry! Dickinson! *loves Susan to itty bitty pieces and runs off to read*

The letter's pretty cool too. Not because it says anything profound -- the day Grandma Doris is profound I will eat my scarf -- but because she's a lousy correspondant and I write to her at least once a week. Various other relatives assure me that she enjoys getting mail (and will talk about it at great length over the phone), but I never call her and she doesn't call me, so I sometimes feel a bit like I'm writing into a void.

And the cake is chocolate. Mmmm, chocolate... :-D

I am nearly finished editing "Paint the Town." I think I'll be able to submit it to FA on Saturday, at which point I'll put it up on ff.net and start posting it serially here on lj as well just to increase the chances of random people stumbling on it. Because I really do like the story, even if it's something I'd never in a million years have thought of on my own, and the world needs more femslash and threesome fics.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lasultrix!
