Today there was a teacher appreciation ceremony as part of the church service, which was nice. I like feeling appreciated.

I also decided that -- since I teach Sunday school, since I've helped out at the garage sale, since I filled out the survey for things to look for in our new settled minister, since I pledge and monetarily support the congregation, etc. -- it was probably time for me to sign the book and become an official member. Besides, if I'm affiliated this much with a congregation, I'd like the right to vote in the meetings and have some say over where we're going.

So. I am now a proud member of First Unitarian Church of Ithaca. :-)

So I'm merrily working away on chapter 9 of "Secrets," when I discover, to my embarrassed horror, that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley have gone to visit Bill in Egypt for Christmas.

Now, first this seems fishy, since the Weasleys don't have lots of ready cash, and secondly it's a little odd in terms of timing (they dragged the whole family off to Egypt the next summer), and thirdly I'd expect them to visit Charlie at some point as well... but most importantly, I'd already said, in chapter 8, that they'd invited elderly relatives to the Burrow for Christmas.

Which means they'd be in England, not Egypt.

*headdesk*

Grr. Stupid, stupid need for canon compatibility.

Either I have to completely rewrite a scene in chapter 8, have the Weasley suddenly change their holiday plans, or ignore canon. Which I refuse to do.

Hmm. Unless they go visit Bill after Christmas, and Harry just gets the wrong idea since he doesn't really care...?

Bah. Will work on this tomorrow.
