"Knives" is currently at 4500 words. And it's kind of creeping me out. Oh, I still think "Mona's Blood" is the creepiest thing I've ever written -- probably due to length constraints -- but this story is NOT from the happy places down in my subconscious mind.

Harry is showing up more than I expected. Winky has claimed a minor supporting role, which actually makes a fair amount of sense when you remember what she spent years doing for Mr. Crouch. And Ginny, who in my head always seems to have a thing for fairy-tales and fairy-tale imagery, keeps going around trying to relate things to Snow White. All white as snow, black as ebony, and red as blood. Poisoned princesses lying in dark coffins. Magic mirrors and raw, bloody hearts.

I haven't quite reached the story about the trapped fly yet, but I'm getting there.

Then maybe I can get back to a cheerful story... or even an angsty story like "Secrets," just something not quite so drenched in darkness.
