*beats head against wall*
I meant to write the fight scene. I swear I meant to write the fight scene. Only suddenly there were objections from various figures about the line-up, and they had to stop and examine the programming of the random-drawing machine to make sure the matches weren't rigged, and then Yukiko and Iruka got into a discussion on the natura of hidden villages and the justification for their existence... and ended up making the point I wanted to make in the previous scene, only now it flows about ten times better and is actually clear instead of delicately implied...
I hate my subconscious. Why do I work out these tangles in the back of my mind, and then neglect to inform myself of my success until unexpected words spill across the page?

In other news, yesterday I finished buying my mom's Christmas present, and today I'm ordering Susan's birthday present from amazon.com. This leaves me with... *counts quickly* Dad's birthday present and 6 more Christmas presents to find.
I like pre-emptive shopping, because I can never find decent gifts around the actual holidays. :-) (Well, and I usually end up writing something as a present for Ardis, and I am obviously not a fast writer.)
