Apparently my dreams are less translatable into logic than they sometimes seem. In other words, while I revised the fight, it still niggled at me and wouldn't let me move on because damnit, it didn't feel right.
So I did the mental equivalent of hurling myself at a brick wall all morning and half the afternoon, before it occurred to me that the problem wasn't with the fight itself, but with something that needed to happen before the fight, between Yukiko and Iruka, and because I'd left that out, everything down in the arena afterward wasn't working.
It's kind of nice to know that some part of my mind has a plan for the story, but it's also damn irritating when I can't just breeze on through and leave sections at "close enough for government work."
In other news, I have a catering job tomorrow morning, and a translating job to be finished sometime this week. Yes, 9 years of studying German language and literature ARE occasionally worth something! :-)
