Today = not so great.

First, I was off work yesterday, which meant I stayed up too late Wednesday night and kind of crashed around dinnertime Thursday. I usually end up having very odd dreams when I do that, and this morning was no exception.

Expandcut for description of sample dream )

I woke up several times during the night and morning, leading to other equally odd dreams. This was because my smoke alarm and my carbon monoxide detector were apparently having low battery issues, but not quite low enough to make them beep every 30 seconds in warning the way they're supposed to. Instead, all night and all morning it was beep, wait 30 minutes, choked-off beep, wait 4 minutes, choked-off beep, wait 2 hours, beep, wait 30 seconds, beep, wait 45 minutes, choked-off beep, etc.

They're right next to each other, too, and sound exactly the same, so I couldn't tell for the longest time which one was being weird. (It was the smoke detector.)

Anyway, after I got that figured out and changed the batteries, MS called from work. She was having problems and wanted to know if I could come in early. (I could.) So I left for town early.

It was, of course, raining. And I discovered that my right sneaker seems to have sprung a leak in the the toe. Lovely.

Then, at the library, I had a book on hold that I'd forgotten I'd requested. Except I had no cash, since Friday is payday. So I couldn't pick it up. Argh.

I went to grab my paycheck and eat lunch, but as soon as I walked into the shop, MS was so relieved to see me that I felt too guilty to explain that I wasn't really there to relieve her until a bit later... so I punched in. Immediately after that, the Elmira order arrived. It's supposed to come around noon. This was 3pm. *headdesk*

I did grab a break at 4:15pm, get my paycheck into the bank, withdraw a bit of cash, and have a (very) belated lunch.

Work was work. Y'know, routine, pretty much. I was a touch later closing than I really wanted to be, but I had some surprise customers just at 9pm so I couldn't start hauling things to the back room until they left and I could lock the doors. However, tonight I remembered to lock the safe, which I forgot to do on Tuesday. (I felt like such an idiot when A. told me about that Wednesday afternoon...)

And now, when I reached the computer lab, I discover that the nearby convience store is closed because there's something wrong with the drains and they're being cleared out. "Check back in half an hour and see if they're done," the clerk said. All I wanted was something to drink, damnit, to stave off a dehydration headache!

*headdesk*

At least I don't have work tomorrow. And no, I'm NOT staying up too late and starting the whole damn cycle over again!
