edenfalling: circular blue mosaic depicting stylized waves (ocean mosaic)
Someday, just for variation, I would like to write a story that shrinks in the telling instead of growing.

Grrr.

Anyway, chapter 6 of "Guardian" is at 2,700 words in rough draft, or about 2/3 written. Iruka actually made it on-screen, and now Sasuke is busy trying to simultaneously angst, bitch at Naruto, and figure out what the hell he thinks he's doing. It makes for some tangled narrative, which I hope I will be able to straighten out in edits.

I want to get back to Yukiko and describe traveling through forests, because I like that sort of thing. It's peaceful, and I know what I'm talking about, whereas with a lot of ninja stuff I'm essentially making it up as I go along and hoping like hell that it seems plausible.

...

Then again, an awful lot of writing is making it up as you go along, based on your understanding of human nature and some reasonable extrapolations. And I try to keep my actions physically possible, if not necessarily plausible without 'magical' aid, and I do try to switch mental 'frames' from my own to the 'frame' of whatever real/imaginary culture I'm writing about, so...

Eh. It seems to be working so far.
